This post is by Ajay Salvesen. An awesome example of being happy and willing to serve!
This talk by Sister Dibb really stood out to me in a couple ways. She states, "The scriptures teach that we must be “doers of the word, and not hearers only.”We live the gospel and become “doers of the word” by exercising faith, being obedient, lovingly serving others, and following our Savior’s example. We act with integrity and do what we know is right “at all times and in all things, and in all places” no matter who may or may not be watching." I love that as Mormons, we come to understand that as we read the scriptures, we must also apply, and as we apply, then we become more like our Savior by word, and by deed.
Sister Dibb states later in her talk, In our mortal condition, no one is perfect. Even in our most diligent efforts to live the gospel, all of us will make mistakes, and all of us will sin. What a comforting assurance it is to know that through our Savior’s redeeming sacrifice, we can be forgiven and made clean again. This process of true repentance and forgiveness strengthens our testimony and our resolve to obey the Lord’s commandments and live our life according to gospel standards." This for me was what caught my eye the most.
We as Mormons also understand that we slip, fall, get up and slip and fall again. But we understand--we KNOW that because of Jesus Christ, and his atonement, his sacrifice for all that have, is or will live on this earth..we can always rise and always become better. We KNOW that if we lean on the Savior and our Heavenly Fathers love for us as His children, that we can be forgiven, we can forgive others and our testimonies will be strengthened. I am just an average Mormon, but I KNOW it, I LIVE it and I LOVE it!!
